Wellness, Fitness and Recreation
Our Wellness Program is designed to integrate the physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing of residents in the Crossroads substance abuse treatment program to improve quality of life, provide tools for relapse prevention and stress management, and promote life-lasting wellness.
Our daily wellness activities address six basic domains of wellbeing, including health and self-care, physical health, nutrition, healthy environments and relationships, spirituality and attitudes/behaviors.
We provide personalized assessments to determine the level of activities and goals for each individual and are monitored throughout their length of stay at Crossroads by specially trained nursing and wellness staff.
Yoga for Sobriety
Crossroads Yoga for Sobriety Program integrates physical, psychological, and spiritual practice to achieve holistic wellness. Classes include a variety of yoga practices based on skill level as well as asana, meditation, readings, and discussions.
Yoga for Sobriety helps clients learn to:
- Heal from the inside out
- Persist through pain, urges, and cravings with patience, grace, and tolerance
- Create self-awareness for the present moment
- Recognize compulsive reactions versus honest and compassionate responses
- Coordinate breathing and movement
Through these practices, participants learn to increase self-awareness by identifying present emotions and learning to manage thoughts, stress, and reactions to urges. Classes are provided weely onsite for our Crossroads Detox clients. Crossroads Residential clients participate in classes both on-campus and off-site at Bala Vinyasa Yoga Studio.
